This is where the Skudpuppetz keep a diary on important events, gigz, general information and any useless bits of crap concerning the band that we decide to chuck in there. Gig posts will be up here first. This is also where important events in the bands history will be noted. Have a good read...
April 6th. I forget what number this is... It was a pretty good wee gig. Blasted oot 6 choons in 20 minutes, much to the delight of everyone there, (except the emo kids in the corner...
), the other bands thought our set was good and we just didn't seem to have enough demos to go round. I think things are startin to pick up... Cheers for all the support on the night, (sorry i missed yer gig Andy. I'll get to one eventually). And so it was on to Barfly.....
Also, a big thanx to 3 Steps Back an all the support at the firkins gig. (March 30th). Falkirk it seems is startin to become our second home. Must be the kebab shops...
Coulduv bin worse i guess. At least we didn'r get kicked off after one song.... it was more like four. Apparently fortunes favoured the local bands. When i say 'fortunes' i mean the sound crew, who were shite. I dunno if the 'engineer' had any idea what he was really doing in the first place. He even managed to blow up an amp during the soundcheck, which ran on into the gig. Just another one of these venues where someone tells you one thing while another tells you something totally different.
Needless to say, the sound was aweful. Either the engineer was crap or he was takin the piss. Cree couldn't hear anything through the poxy monitors so that was our timin away tae fuck. Call me crazy, but they coulduv....i dunno....turned the drums down!? They mustuv been crankin out twice the dB of an airliner just for that and none of the backline could cope. Apparently the next two bands, again not local, were cut short. The last one, (the Flykicks), through a wobbler an kicked the amps and mic stands off the stage. Rock on.
Anyways it was for charity so at least the whole thing made plenty of money. Cheers to all those who enjoyeed our set and took a cd. And thanks to John for arrangin us to be on the bill. Peace...
Demo is hardly the word. I can't actually believe it's us on this record i swear. This record will give anything in your punk rock collection a run for its money, i garantee. So keep an eye on at least one of our sites coz those shitty old recordings will be getting promtly and violently set on fire and replaced with 'the new shit' by the end of the week. Please enjoy. We insist.
Magic. Aye it was pretty good as always. Teamed up with the ever tuneful 3 Steps Back who provided some punk rock relief from the emo. Which wasn't too bad. No one laughed at my emo joke though...
Look forward to a brand new record as of the 13th. Woo hoo!!
Big cheers to Podboy, the bands an everyone who turned up to watch.
Shite. Pure grade A shite. I've never been kicked out a venue for the music i play. That is of course until we went to this trendy poof pub. Our first gig of 2006 & the first in the capital. We got through the first song and the kick drum skin tore which was a bit unfortunate. But we were seemingly given the go ahead to play on, managed a second song, then were told to leave. Wankers! Stu gave the engineer the finger, not suprisingly, which led to abusive threats from the owner followed by a near brawl between the band and the bar staff. We were subsequently barred.
Whats worse was that the owner tried to pass the whole thing off as a misunderstanding to me telling me it was a kick drum problem & the music was fine blah, blah, blah, having 2 minutes earlier told the sound guy to get rid of us...
So a warning to all punk bands who go to Edinburgh to gig: stay away from this place coz you'll more than likely be told just to fuck off anyways...
Gigs comin up in March: Oban Rugby Club 4th, The Vale. Glasgow 8th, Home Centre. Airdrie 17th.
Stranded Records. March 11th & 12th.
Whistle Binkies. Edinburgh. 12:00am. February 21st. It's an all-nighter baby.
The whole saga between ourselves and Club Go is set to continue. The gig there, rescheduled for tonight, (January 28th), has once again been cancelled due to some costly info arising far too late in the game. We're in the process of movin the gig with ourselves, 3 Steps Back & Egg in a Tree to the Vale hopefully for early February. Another gig at Rockers is currently being organised.
Oh ayae. Skudpuppetz are set for a trip to Stranded Records on the 11th and 12th of March.
